Basic Function/Definition
Automotive Technology currently consists of General Automotive, Heavy Equipment, Alternative Fuels, Bureau of Automotive Smog Programs and Factory supported programs. Among the courses taught are beginning, intermediate and advanced classes. Classes are offered both on and off the campus during the day, evenings and weekends. Facilities on campus included 6 labs which all have been remodeled and a fleet of 80 training vehicles. The program is NATEF certified in Automotive, ATMA Certified- Association of Technology Management, and Applied Technology, ATTS Certified- Automotive Technician Training Standards. The successful candidate must be ASE certified in G1, and all eight (master) certified in order to teach plus L1 for those teaching Engine Performance within one year of employment.

any Associate degree AND six years of professional experience

Equivalencies
1) A High School Diploma, PLUS college course work equivalent to an Associate’s degree in the discipline of the assignment, PLUS eight years of occupational experience related to the discipline of the assignment at or above the journeyman level or equivalent – technical recognition in the discipline of the assignment, PLUS appropriate certification to practice or licensure or its equivalent, if available;
OR
2) A High School Diploma, PLUS eight years of occupational related to the discipline of the assignment at or above the journeyman level or equivalent – technical recognition in the discipline of the assignment, PLUS appropriate certification to practice or licensure or its equivalent, if available;
OR
3) Recognized accomplishments which demonstrate expertise and skill in the field of study beyond that normally achieved through formal education.
Responsibilities
- Instruct students in the assigned discipline
- Develop curricula, instructional methodology, strategies
- Advise students in both group and individual contacts
- Assist students in improving time management and learning skills
- Participate in institutional activities including but not limited to flex and staff development
- Perform peer reviews as required in the association contract
- Participate in other contractually required activities
- Meet regularly with discipline/division peers
- Provide support for discipline/division recruitment, research and development
- Participate on institutional committees and activities
- Work towards continuous personal growth and development
- Perform other duties as directed or specified by Board Policy, California Education Code, or Faculty Association contract.
- Assignments may be either day or evening, weekday or weekends or online.
Foreign Degrees
Any degree from a country other than the United States, including Canada and Great Britain, must be evaluated by an Evaluation Service prior to the closing date. Certification must be attached with copies of transcripts.
